Hello, my name is Katy, I’m an embroidery artist based in London and founder of The Seductive Stitch.
My embroideries are unique pieces that combine my love of drawing and my passion for embroidery. Using both of these skills I create ‘thread drawings’ predominantly in monochrome and often with a ‘seductive’ edge!
My love of stitch started when I studied Textiles and Surface Decoration at Middlesex University and later went on to launch and run a womenswear label, focusing on embellished denim so sewing has long been a thread (ahem) in my life. It was some years later, during the pandemic however, that I picked up a hoop again and re-discovered my love of fine art embroidery and so The Seductive Stitch was born.
I have always been fascinated with the human form and the way light and dark works with it and the way it is depicted, so developed my technique around this. Since then I have expanded my embroidery portfolio, and regularly take commissions which is always an honor to be part of such an intimate and creative process.
I have also developed beginner/intermediate kits and PDFs so others can create their own Seductive Stitch art pieces and benefit from the calming effects of embroidery and the rewards of creating your very own piece of art from scratch!
