Hello I'm Bec. I am the owner/designer/maker behind dakota rae dust.
I create bright and colourful Statement textile jewellery, and the occasional run of customised sweatshirts.
My statement earrings and necklaces consist of bold, vinyl printed fabric components that I design in Illustrator and cut out by hand or laser cutter, then layer to give texture and depth.
Every product is designed with FUN in mind. Hand crafted with love to add a POP of colour and PLAYFULNESS to your outfit, no matter what the occasion.
I make with sustainability in mind, and while the fluorescent and glittery prints that adorn my creations are plastic based, each and every item features elements cut from second hand or recycled fabrics. These are sourced from local charity shops, Textile recycling centres or via kind donations from fellow makers looking to repurpose their unwanted fabric offcuts. When it comes to fabric, wherever possible I will repurpose something old over buying something new.
When at a market there is little I love more than explaining to interested passers by where the vintage or reclaimed fabrics in each piece of jewellery originally came from.

My jewellery making skills are entirely self taught and my construction techniques heavily inspired by my background in textiles. A small pair of embroidery scissors, a needle and thread and my trusty sewing machine are my most used 'tools'.
