I'm a slow living fan!
Making quilts is a SLOW process that just can't be rushed - each quilted project takes days to come together... Gathering fabrics, choosing the colour-ways, then cutting them down to the right sized squares, planning their placement and sewing them all together, basting the wadding, quilting all over the layers, then binding the edges. This steady, staged process feels like a protest against fast fashion and 'disposable' culture.
Using reclaimed & vintage fabric for some of the items feels right too; history gets sewn in to add an extra layer of stories to each piece, ready to accumulate more love and tales over time.
The items and accessories I make are intended to generate stitched joy! To raise a smile or add quilted colour to a grey day.
The quilts themselves are intended to be used and loved and cared for, and passed down to new generations, offering a layer of protective cosiness when you're wrapped up in them: definitely heirloom pieces - and I hope they give you a reason to take some time for yourself, to stop for a while and read by the fire, or daydream.
