Have you always been a maker. If not how did you get here?

My parents were both creative so I've always been around making. They ran a business making wooden toys for 8 years so I think the passion for making and selling things as a job definitely came from that.

I'm inspired by colour, graphic shapes and joyful design.

Is making your full time job?

I have been full time making jewellery since 2019 but it had been a good ol slog of about 10 years before I got to that point. I made items alongside lots of different jobs that I think helped me pick up different skills. I've worked in fashion retail, waitressing countless times, cafe management, administration, tried my hand freelance illustration and even was a PA at one point. I am still open to taking on temp roles when I need to and that's how I think it's survived this far.

What does a typical day look like for you? I stick the kettle on first and look at my list for the day. I get any orders laser cut first and then can get on to assembling and then other tasks like admin & marketing and photography.

I like having an idea and then making that first prototype that looks like you had imagined. It's the best and luckiest thing about being creative, experimenting and having fun.

What sets you apart from other makers in your category? I have always tried to be original and have my own style. From distinctive packaging to recognisable materials I wanted to stand out and not be the same as other jewellers. I think it's more fun to create something unique, sure there are colours and shapes that will be fashionable and influence you, but I think having your own interests and style shows passion in your work and makes it stand out.

Favourite product: I love the new cake toppers. They are just a fun product to create. It's nice to be part of peoples celebrations and create something that can be used again and again.

What have you got from being a part of the Crafty Fox community? I love the Crafty Fox community as it genuinely is one. I've made so many maker friends and customers who have become friends through doing these fairs.

My best memory is actually quite a personal one but worth sharing I think. I had to take a break in 2021 after my dad died. The first fair I did when I came back to work was Crafty fox and I was so nervous. I was genuinely overwhelmed by how many people came out to support me that day that I had met through Crafty Fox events. I will remember that kindness forever.

What sustainable practices have you integrated into your business? As a maker that uses acrylic I have always felt I need to go the extra mile to show that I think about sustainability. I use Perspex brand only as they have upfront environmental policies. I keep all acrylic & silver scrap for re-use and recycling. Most of my items are made to order to reduce waste and all my packaging is plastic free, recyclable or compostable and sourced from UK firms prioritising local ones.

What do you have planned for the next year?

I'm excited to be expanding the jewellery range to include other colourful items for gifts and home, watch this space!
