Farewell, Foolish Objects

Workshops/Clothing

Farewell, Foolish Objects was started as a practice to return to a slower way of producing and consuming clothing, and an exploration of what I could make with materials that already exist as other objects.

I’m a creative pattern cutter by training, and after working in various fashion brands for a few years, I was so overwhelmed by the fast pace and wasteful practices of the industry. I’m also a HUGE fan of car boot sales, antiquing and flea markets, and often came across amazing embroidery and craft techniques on tablecloths and home textiles that I rarely ever saw in clothing these days. I started buying and collecting these textiles and that began my process of giving these textiles a second life as clothing!

The garments I make are like a love letter to the past, and each piece can take up to 10-12 hours to make, from sourcing the textiles, making the paper pattern, to cutting and sewing. They are hand finished with the utmost care and attention to detail, and every piece made carries with it the story of what it used to be.
